Calibration Technician

Responsibilities

Perform duties to calibrate, issue and maintain a wide variety of precision measuring instruments in accordance with company quality assurance standards.

Work from quality assurance standards, specifications, gage drawings, computer program and verbal instructions to:

  • Inspect and calibrate precision measuring instruments such as but not limited to various types of measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, thread/plug gauges and testing equipment to meet the schedule requirements of the calibration program.
  • Make critical adjustments to individual units to ensure proper functional operation and compliance with department standards.
  • Identify and refer discrepant units to superior for final disposition.
  • Maintain the calibration program to ensure that all precision measuring instruments are inspected and calibrated within the stated time parameters for the specific type of unit.
  • Perform layout inspections of all new gauges.
  • Issue, check on and maintain the storage of precision measuring instruments utilized by manufacturing personnel.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems involving various precision measuring instruments for the inspectors and production personnel.
  • Identify and order replacement gauges.
  • Prepare the required paperwork and maintain the department computer database.

 

Requirements

Able to use a full range of precision measuring instruments and equipment such as, but not limited to, super micrometer, height gauge, dial indicator, gauge blocks, digital amplifier, sine bar, optical comparator, surface plates, test stands, gage heads and personal computer. Follow safety rules and keep the work area clean and in orderly conditions.  Notify the supervisor of unusual equipment or operating problems.  Perform other related duties as assigned and support ISO 9000 requirements.
