World Class Manufacturer of hydraulic cartridge valves, custom hydraulic integrated circuits, and hydraulic and pneumatic in-line valves is looking for an energetic and committed engineer to support a manufacturing facility located in the greater Chicagoland area.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for day-to day support of shop floor assembly and machining processes.
- Design and build assembly/machining fixtures and jigs.
- Participate and/or lead in corrective action activities.
- Involved in capital equipment justification.
- Knowledge of 3D CAD modeling. Autodesk Inventor is a plus.
- Program CNC lathes. Programming horizontal machining centers a plus.
- Evaluate product design and requirements in order to develop and document assembly processes and procedures.
- Participate in company Safety program.
- Construct PFMEA’s for production processes.
- Support employee training program.
- Estimate costs for machined components and assist Industrial Engineers in calculating production, labor and material costs.
- Evaluate and apply design and fabrication knowledge to conduct continuous improvement projects.
- Responsible for investigating and reporting production issues and finding solutions to improve yields, cost and/or throughput with a sense of urgency.
- Develop work instructions to support shop floor processes
- Develop equipment preventative maintenance plans
- Analyze production efficiencies and develop improvement plans
- Capital equipment justification and implementation
Desired Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- 5 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 6 Sigma.
- Knowledge of PLCs, automation and/or semi-automation a plus.
- Must have excellent communication and writing skills.
- Must be able to work autonomously and be able to maintain projects with status reporting and completions in a timely manner.
- Use of MRP systems. Syteline (Infor) is a plus.
- Experience designing using Autodesk Inventor or other 3D modeling software.
- Must be able to use standard metrology tools to inspect and verify component dimensions.
- Must be able to read engineering blue prints and be able to evaluate and determine best machining and/or assembly practices to produce product as intended.
- Hydraulic and/or pneumatic knowledge.
- Excellent knowledge of MS office tools such as Word and Excel. MS Access is a plus.
- Experience using MasterCAM and/or EdgeCAM CNC programming software.
- Experience with standard manual tool room lathes, mills and grinders.
- Must be able to work in cross-functional groups.
- Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in order to meet deadlines.
